Business opening hours are 8am – 5pm (Monday – Thursday) and 8am – 4.30pm (Friday).

Yes (current ACT Workers Compensation and Third Party Public and Product Liability).

Does Proactive Air Conditioning service areas outside of Canberra?

As a general rule, we service the ACT and Queanbeyan. We do attend to jobs in surrounding rural areas (provided the customer is willing to pre-pay an agreed travel fee).

What forms of payment does Proactive Air Conditioning accept?

Full payment to our trade technician is required on the day of site attendance.

  • Technicians carry a mobile EFTPOS machine to process EFTPOS and credit card payments.
  • Technicians accept cash and cheques.
  • Internet payments can be made into our bank account on day of attendance.

For any further work required outside our technician’s initial site attendance date, a written Quote will be emailed/supplied for your approval prior to proceeding further.

How often should heating and cooling equipment be serviced?

  • All residential air conditioning – annually (either pre-winter or pre-summer)
  • Residential evaporative cooling – annually (pre-summer)
  • Residential add-on cooling – annually (pre-summer)
  • Residential ducted gas furnace heating – annually (pre-winter)

How long do heating and cooling systems last?

If a system is serviced on a regular basis (annually as a minimum), you should get 10-15 years out of a new heating and/or cooling system.

What does ARCtick certified mean?

The Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) is a major industry body that represents over 90,000 businesses and individuals from the Australian refrigeration and air conditioning industries. ARCtick certification is awarded to HVAC businesses and tradespeople that meet specific industry and training standards in relation to the handling of fluorocarbon refrigerants.

In Australia, anyone who handles fluorocarbon refrigerants (found in air conditioners and refrigeration systems) must hold a Refrigerant Handling Licence; in other words, be ARCtick certified. Proactive Air Conditioning Pty Ltd has a current Refrigerant Trading Authorisation Certificate (our Authorisation Number is AU07730).

As a general rule, air conditioning and gas heating vents are positioned near windows; whereas evaporative cooling vents are positioned away from windows (to create the desired breeze effect).

Which refrigerant types are environmentally friendly?

At this point in time, R410A and the newer R32 are considered eco-friendly (compared with the previous R22 refrigerant). However, consumers should note that R410A, which is a hydrofluorocarbon (HFC), is starting to be phased out worldwide.
